Prep and Protect Your Hair This Summer

Summer is just starting to heat up, which means a lot more fun in the sun for some of us.  When it comes to additional sun exposure, we tend to think of protecting our skin first, but the sun can also wreak havoc on our hair as well.  Not to worry though, there are quite a few ways to prep and protect your mane for the hot and sunny months ahead. 

1.  Prevent Damage
Regular trims will help to prevent unwanted damage that comes from exposure to the sun, salt and chlorine.  Combine that with a deep conditioning treatment at least once per week and your locks will look super healthy all summer long.  We recommend an Olaplex treatment that can be done at the salon or at home!

2. Eliminate Frizz
Humidity is your hair’s second worst enemy after the sun, but thoroughly moisturized strands have a chance of combating it.   Kevin Murphy’s Smooth.Again is our favorite anti-frizz treatment.  Styling properties will work to smooth out hair and treatment ingredients will eliminate frizz for smooth, silky locks.

3.  Sunscreen for Hair

Get the Look: Beauty Goes Boho for Spring 2015

The Bohemian fashion trend is back and more chic than ever as a new wave of flowy blouses, fringe bags and gypsy jewelry dominated the spring 2015 runways.  And when it comes to Boho beauty, nothing says flower child better than effortlessly gorgeous skin and carefree, tousled hair (and maybe a headband, or two).  We’ve got a few simple makeup ideas and tips to help you let your inner hippie shine!

1. Glowing Complexion
Boho style is all about looking natural, so it’s very important to start with great skin.  Before applying makeup, prep your skin with Ahava Time to Clear Facial Mud Exfoliator for a smooth, radiant complexion. 

2. Au Naturel Foundation

5. Effortless Waves
Finish off your beautiful Boho look with tousled, wavy hair, which can be achieved in a few easy steps.  First, comb a quarter-sized dollop of volumizer through wet hair - Kevin.Murphy Full.Again.  Dry your hair with a diffuser attached to your blow dryer until it’s fully dry and then divide hair into four sections.  Hold a one-inch curling iron facing down and take small sections and wrap them around the barrel (do not close the clamp) – hold for a few seconds and let go.  Repeat this process until all of the hair is curled.  Run your fingers through the curls to create a loose, carefree look.  Finish with Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Hairspray
